Course presentation (FOR PhD course/Specialisation school ONLY)
The PhD course provides for the acquisition of 180 CFU over the three years divided as follows:
In the first 2 years the PhD student must acquire at least 30 CFU (and no more than 50 CFU) in training activities. These credits can be earned:
A) with the frequency of transversal courses/seminars, chosen from those scheduled annually together with other university courses. The courses scheduled for the current year, with indication of the credits assigned, are available at this link
B) with the frequency of the specialized courses scheduled annually by the Board of Professors of the doctoral course and reported in the manifesto of the PhD studies.
C) with the frequency of specialized courses in the area and in the discipline of reference organized by other university courses and/or other universities/research institutions/companies.
The doctoral teaching commission evaluates the suitability of these activities with respect to the student's training and research objectives and assigns the number of credits as specified at this link.
During the three years the PhD student must acquire between 40 and 80 CFU for scientific research activities through:
A) The publication of scientific articles, book chapters, patents and monographs
B) Participation in congresses ,shop
C) The presentation of their research activity through seminars
D) The presentation of oral or poster contributions to congresses
E) Carrying out periods of study abroad and / or at research institutions or national and international companies Credits are assigned to these activities as specified at this link .
The individual research program ends with the writing of the thesis to which 110 credits are assigned. The thesis, written in English, must contribute to the advancement of knowledge or methodologies in the chosen field of inquiry. The PhD students present a scientific report of the activity carried out annually to the teaching and counter-reporting commission and illustrate the progress of the research project to the teaching board through an oral presentation in English during the PhD day dedicated to them since October.
The Teaching Board annually evaluates the training and research activities carried out by individual PhD students for the purpose of admission to the following year and to the evaluation phase of the thesis.
