Admission requirements

Italian second cycle master's degree (Laurea Magistrale, under D.M. 270/04 or Laurea Specialistica, under D.M. 509/99) or Italian degree obtained prior to D.M. 509/99 (the previous Italian regulations) or Second cycle Master's degree obtained abroad and recognized as suitable for the admission to doctoral program.

Educational goals

The PhD in Reggio Childhood Studies, which can be accessed with all the Master’s Degrees or equivalent qualifications acquired abroad, is a highly interdisciplinary PhD course that is purposely open to different areas of knowledge:

-Education: Pedagogy, Philosophy of education (aesthetic, moral, social, organizational, religious and political dimensions);

Topics: Reggio Approach; pedagogical theories and methodological approches; varieties of constructivism; history of pedagogy; approaches to didactic techniques, play and learning.

-Ethics

Topics: theory of practical reasoning; post-colonialist theory; law and religion; theory of normative change, conflict resolution and mediation, human rights and interfaith dialogue; organizational approaches; theory of moral and collective responsibility; moral and religious literacy and illiteracy.

-Knowledge: Epistemology (general, moral, and social), Philosophy of Emotions

Topics: theories of knowledge, theory of perception, theory of emotional and social learning; theory of moral discernment; ethics of belief; varieties of epistemic literacy/illiteracy; theory of epistemic responsibility.

-Language: Philosophy of Language, Linguistics

Topics: first and additional language acquisition and teaching; linguistic literacy and illiteracy; philosophical theory of language and language acquisition.

-Aesthetics

Topics: theory of taste, theory of metaphors, media aesthetics

-Psychology: Psychodynamics of Family relations, Group Processes and Clinical Psychology

Topics: psychopathology and its challenges, group development and life cycles, attachment theory and groups, intergenerational traumas, dysfunctional communication and conflict resolution, family roles and personality development.

-Technology: AI, Digital Learning, culture creative industries, innovative prototypes

Topics: theories of digital learning; Digital Storytelling in Education

-Heritage: Material and immaterial cultural heritage
