The participants will be able to assess and select the most appropriate restorative justice programmes for each specific case, in relation to the needs of the parties and the reference context. They will be able to promote the active and informed participation of those involved in restorative pathways, providing information, guidance and support, and will be capable of managing interpersonal relationships with command of the techniques and methodologies specific to mediation and restorative justice. The mediator will also be able to address the emotional and conflictual dimensions arising from the offence, supporting the people involved in processing harm and constructing shared meanings, and to build sustainable restorative agreements that foster reintegration into the community. Particular importance is also placed on the ability to interact appropriately with the judicial authority and with the operators of the criminal and social system, through professional communications appropriate to different institutional contexts.
